I listened to the audiobook version of Kafka on the Shore and I think the voice changeovers were excellent. You could really experience each one distinctly. A very strong performance overall. I enjoyed the characters Nakata and Oshima the most. Johnny Walker and Colonel Sanders the least. As for the book itself, the story, or should I say the stories, were all unique, and the writing style is very fascinating. It intertwines many ideas and messages into different narratives and then brings them together in the end. Continue reading

Weirdest book I have read. It is so full of sex and so full of death. Sex not in a vulgar way, just sex as it is. And the same goes for death. There is a lot of gloom, but death is inevitable, and you just accept it. I wish so many people didn’t have to die, though, and the manner in which they did was the weirdest. There are several short stories inside this story, and it is all very complex. Continue reading
