It’s a dense read— packed with details, a roll call of many names and achievements— but one that makes you pause and reflect. It was fascinating to read about what went on between WWI and WWII, and how the immigrants of Vienna assimilated into their new homes and worked so hard to bring about change and betterment for society as a whole. Be it in education, architecture, medicine, psychology, women’s rights, politics, and more—there was room to experiment with political and social reforms. Continue reading

Our world economy is shaped by a handful. Economic instability, inflation, low interest rates – they all seem to benefit one group more than the others. The rich keep getting richer, the middle class is disappearing, and poverty is increasing. Capitalism will always triumph over socialism – when you figure out how to get the most out of the system, will you ignore it? How many could resist robbing a bank when the vault is left open… and there are no consequences? Continue reading

It only takes a few people, sometimes just one or two—to cause massive change. They can shape movements, tilt perceptions, or even turn society upside down. The stories in this book were very interesting. Continue reading

Do it like a Woman - and change the world

This book is a compilation of stories highlighting remarkable women from around the world and their continuous efforts toward achieving equality. It serves as a megaphone for these incredible women and their ongoing work to create a more equitable world. It reminds us that by merely accepting, ignoring, and moving on, we undermine the actions and sacrifices of these remarkable individuals. The book encourages us not to feel ashamed to speak up, affirming that we are not the “imperfect men,” as Aristotle once described women, but unique entities capable of making this world a better place, and without whom humanity would cease to exist. Nexus - A Brief History of Information Networks from the Stone Age to AI

Author: Yuval Noah Harari Publication Date: September 2024

I did the audio version of the book. Yuval Harari is an excellent storyteller and always leaves you with an afterthought. Nexus is meant to be a reflection on where humanity is heading, especially with the rise of AI, disinformation, and global instability. But to be honest, I didn’t enjoy it as much. It felt like a lot of repetition and basically a recap of his earlier books. The same themes from Sapiens and Homo Deus kept popping up, just re-worded. Continue reading
