The book is divided into 2 parts. In the first part, the author explains how excellence and genius can be achieved through Grit. How we as a society are so obsessed with the naturals and geniuses with high IQs, and we give too little importance to the efforts put into achieving excellence. What good is talent when you don’t put it to use, and yet when we hear of naturals, we get excited? Continue reading

In 2018, a friend introduced me to the Lean In movement during one of our conversations. At the time, I dismissed it as just another American phenomenon—a sort of feminist hype or a gathering where women came together to collectively voice their grievances about perceived disadvantages cause by male counterparts. Michelle Obama, so much grace, so much wisdom, and yet so humble and down to earth. A woman with passion who shined despite her husband. Her closeness to her parents, her family, her husband, and her children is all remarkable. Continue reading

This book is highly informative. It is a hard read as there is so much information and studies, but I still loved it. I come from a generation that often received advice to toughen up and refrain from complaining to succeed in a predominantly male-dominated world, I work in. Nobody expected me to do the man’s job or be part of this world—it was my own wanting and doing. If I pointed out its disadvantages, I might have been deemed unfit for the job. Continue reading

The Code Breaker

Author: Walter Isaacson Publication Date: March 2021

Biographies from Walter Isaacson are well researched and well written. I liked Steve Jobs and Albert Einstein and so when I saw he had written another one, I decided to buy it. He always made it sound like they were the sole responsible behind the technological revolution. However in Code Breaker, a lot of characters are introduced. It is a field the continuously evolving and so complex, that it makes sense that you cannot talk about the contribution of just one person, without mentioning the others. Continue reading
